Meeting Two

Deb, Lisa & I met on Feb. 1st. We took a closer look at the Guidance Plan from Vooheesville and we looked at a couple of other formats, including the format used when our previous plan was created. We stuggled with how to create our new template to reflect each of the areas & activities. In the end, we decided to include 3 domains: Academic, Career, & Personal/Social. Followed by Program Description & 5 areas - Activities, Target Group, Staff, Other Resources & Outcome. We reviewed ASCA & NYSSCA standards and spent quite a bit of time discussing how best to address our needs through the Plan and its end result. We agreed that it should be designed for us and for district administration. As we reviewed our old plan, we agreed that it has merit but is very out of date. Our next scheduled meeting is 2/29 and this will be a "working meeting" where we each begin to use our new template to outline the programs and activities that we currently use and we will begin to look for gaps and areas that we want to improve. Prior to that meeting we will survey the HS staff regarding career development activities that they currently use in class and will also be looking for ideas from staff regarding ways we can collaborate in the classroom.
